Frost-protected safety showers

Frost-protected safety showers have been developed for use in industrial settings, for example outdoors. These are specially designed safety devices that are ready for immediate use even at sub-zero temperatures and enable rapid and effective first aid in the event of skin contact with hazardous substances. These are mandatory first-aid facilities for workplaces where staff may come into contact with hazardous substances, acids, alkalis, heat, flames and also extreme levels of dirt. The restricted, even and, above all, gentle water jet is optimised for flushing chemicals out of the eyes and rinsing the skin.

Frost-protected safety showers use technical solutions such as self-regulating trace heating cables to ensure that the water in the pipes does not freeze, thus guaranteeing a sufficient supply of water at all times. The integrated thermostat acts as an energy-saving switch and turns off the trace heating when the outside temperature reaches +11°C. As temperatures drop, the trace heating turns on when the outside temperature reaches +4°C. In addition, the showers are equipped with extra insulation, ensuring they remain operational even in extreme cold. This design prevents the water from freezing and ensures the Safety shower works when needed.

Safety showers are life-saving devices installed in areas with low temperatures to allow for immediate and thorough rinsing of the body in the event of accidents involving hazardous substances. These safety showers cannot freeze, even under extreme conditions.

The safety shower is clad on the outside with stainless steel sheets. This ensures maximum durability even in harsh industrial environments. The modular design with bolted valve covers guarantees easy access to valves and connecting parts during maintenance work. Concealed, high-performance shower heads prevent vandalism and also deliver high flow rates for rapid decontamination. They are activated via stainless steel pull rods or foot-operated controls such as step grates or foot levers.

Our frost-protected safety showers comply with the standards DIN EN 15154-1:2006 (body showers in laboratories), EN 15154-5:2019 (body showers for locations other than laboratories / replacement for DIN 12899-3:2009), and ANSI Z358.1-2014. Showers with an integrated eye shower also comply with DIN EN 15154-2:2006. Other national standards may also apply. Additionally, company-specific standards may need to be taken into account when selecting a frost-protected safety shower.
